Robert (Bob) Hannington First Flight Rotorway Exec 90 VH-RAH

MY brother Bob Hannington’s flying career included flying helicopters for the RAF. He has lots of stories about flying in Malaya during “the Troubles”.

When he quit the RAF, he emigrated to Oz, and held several different positions with various companies here in WA. He was working for the Water Corporation when he retired.

But before that, he decided to settle that itch to fly choppers again by building one, a Rotorway Exec 90.

I remember seeing the quality of the kitting for this aircraft, with excellent packaging of parts and instructions for construction.

He kept the Rotorway for several years but finally sold it to someone from Melbourne. That purchaser offered it back to him after a landing accident, but he declined.

I did recently hear from someone who said he had acquired the airframe and was going to rebuild it.
